Padded bandage for 7 days, thereafter a bandage or elasticated headband needs to worn over ears at night only for 6 to 8 weeks.

BRUISING

The ears will be quite bruised for about 10 days

SWELLING

Usually confined to the ears only.

PAIN

None immediately after the operation, but the ears are likely to be painful and tender for about 2 weeks.

COMMON COMPLICATIONS

Early: Occasionally bleeding occurs post-operatively. Usually controlled by replacing the padded bandage. Sometimes numbness of the ear for a few weeks.
Late: Sometimes the previous problem recurs; the ears come out again. In this case the operation can be easily repeated.

Your surgeon must be properly qualified to do the operation and he will advise you what can and what cannot be achieved in your case. Do take that advice.
